HOME DECOR: KITCHEN MAKEOVER WITH PAINT

    What a difference PAINT makes!
SO, CSI IS HAVING A CHALLENGE, TO SHOW A PAINT PROJECT, AND I IMMEDIATELY THOUGHT ABOUT THIS KITCHEN I DID FOR A CLIENT.

Her kitchen started out much the same as many of ours with older homes. She had good quality cabinets, but they were dated and very much the 80's color stain with prominent oak grain.

HOME DECOR: BONNIES OLD WORLD KITCHEN REMODEL

    THE KITCHEN

Warm Tuscany was the feeling that Bonnie wanted in her home, along with sun-warmed colors and rich wood tones.  Her last update had been in the late 80's and she just wasn't feeling the blue and white anymore.  In fact, she wanted to change just about everything about her entire ground floor.

Her kitchen was dated, with a ceiling hung bank of cabinets and matching peninsula that Source URL: https://costumesgirl.blogspot.com/search/label/travertine

HOME DECOR: KITCHENS - COUNTERTOPS & BACKSPLASH DESIGN

    COUNTERTOPS
You probably already have a good idea what product you want to use for your kitchen countertop.  The difficulty comes in the large range of color and pattern available for each of the products.

When planning or remodeling a kitchen, the countertops need special consideration.  They need to be water, stain and heat resistant as well as scratch and chip resistant.  Your counters are Source URL: https://costumesgirl.blogspot.com/search/label/travertine

HOME DECOR: KITCHENS - let's start with the floor.....

    CREATING A FABULOUS KITCHEN

If kitchens are the heart of the home, then special care should be given to the planning of them.
I'm currently working on a few kitchens, so they have been on my mind a lot.
I've been thinking of all the elements that make a kitchen functional,
and all of the materials that make a kitchen beautiful, elegant or charming.

HOME DECOR: PAT'S BEAUTIFUL NEW LOOK IN MISSION VIEJO

Pat was definitely ready for a new look. Her peach walls, peach wing chairs and white floral sofa were beautiful in the 80's - but it wasn't the 80's anymore. Heavy lace curtains, off-white carpeting and brass accessories had to go, but we loved the new crown molding, plastered ceiling and mullioned windows.

The only furniture Pat wished to keep in this room was the family piano. Source URL: https://costumesgirl.blogspot.com/search/label/travertine

HOME DECOR: A little contemporary, a little traditional

My first view of Char's home was a space that had already been taken down to the bare walls. Actually, a lot of the walls had been removed as well. And that is where she was stuck. She felt overwhelmed by the job at hand and was unable to make a decision as to flooring, paint, cabinetry or tile. She had already hired a contractor and they were anxious to get to work. So we rolled up our sleeves Source URL: https://costumesgirl.blogspot.com/search/label/travertine

HOME DECOR: Spa-Like Master Bath

Barbara's master bathroom hadn't been touched since the 80's when her beach-close home was built. While she and her husband had made beautiful changes to most of the rest of their home, the bathroom remained locked in a time warp.

Navajo white with 1980's brass fixtures, white cultured marble countertops and a roman tub with white tile surround. Barbara's style was dark woods, minimal Source URL: https://costumesgirl.blogspot.com/search/label/travertine

HOME DECOR: Whole House Remodel for Ana and Bob

After many years of career, kids and caring for elderly parents, Ana and Bob decided it was time to retire and enjoy the fruits of their labors. That's when they looked around and noticed it had been a while since they had paid much attention to their home - and even longer since they had upgraded.  They decided that if they were going to be spending more time at home, it needed to look a lot Source URL: https://costumesgirl.blogspot.com/search/label/travertine

HOME DECOR: Updating Bathrooms - The Most Expensive Room in the House

Per square foot, the bathroom is the most expensive room in your home to remodel. Even if you keep all the plumbing where it currently is, the cost of new fixtures, toilets, tub, shower enclosures, tile, cabinets and labor costs can be daunting. When it is necessary to move plumbing, it gets worse. The bathroom is, however, one of the most rewarding rooms to update. You will nearly always Source URL: https://costumesgirl.blogspot.com/search/label/travertine
